The EyeDirect Mark II provides a flexible solution for maintaining eye contact with on-camera talent or interview subjects, beyond what a standard teleprompter offers. It not only displays lines for on-camera subjects to read but also enables them to view various images or views while looking directly at the camera. This tool is compatible with a wide range of cameras, from DSLR and mirrorless to full-sized camcorders and digital cinema cameras with larger lenses.
As a teleprompter, the Mark II supports iPads or tablets up to 17.8 x 25.4 cm and 0.95 cm thick (tablet and prompting software not included). Its 50/50 beamsplitter allows your subject to see the text without it appearing in your footage. A key feature is the removable iPad/tablet setup, which enables the on-camera talent to look directly at the camera while viewing the interviewer or specific images, maintaining natural eye contact.
The Mark II’s flexible positioning allows the interviewer to sit behind or to either side of the camera without affecting the subject’s eye contact with the lens. This setup helps the talent remain engaged with both the interviewer and the camera, fostering a strong connection with the audience while eliminating the need for the interviewer to lean into the frame.
Designed for adaptability, the unit allows the interviewer to sit comfortably on either side of the camera without compromising framing or composition. The adjustable wing provides 40° of lateral movement and 35° of tilt, letting the interviewer find an optimal angle while preserving eye contact with the talent. Removing the wing transforms the device into a traditional teleprompter with the tablet accessory.
The Mark II mounts on a 45.7 cm long plate for tripod attachment, making it suitable for various camera types, from DSLRs and mirrorless models to ENG and digital cinema cameras. Constructed primarily from ABS plastic, the Mark II is lightweight yet durable, featuring a 50/50 beamsplitter for use as both a teleprompter and an optical device for direct eye contact.
