Die FDR-X3000 kann Bilder mit einer UltraHD Auflösung von 4K (3840 x 2160) bei 25p mit einer Bitrate von bis zu 100 Mb/s, 60 Mb/s oder 720p bei 60 Mb/s bis zu 240 fps für Slow-Motion Wiedergabe aufnehmen. Videos können in MP4 oder professionellen XAVC S codecs aufgenommen werden. Außerdem erzeugt sie bis zu 12 Megapixel Standbilder in Einzel- und Serienaufnahmen. Die integrierte Bildstabilisierung schafft bis zu 4K.

Das besondere Design des BIONZ X Sensors verbessert um ein vielfaches die Empfindlichkeit und verringert das Bildrauschen.
